Apprenticeships Overview

Aylesbury College offers a wide range of training opportunities through its range of Apprenticeship programmes. With delivery experience of over 25 years we know about how to deliver great Apprenticeships.  By listening to local employers and meeting the needs of our community we have grown to be one of the largest providers of Apprenticeship training in the area offering an extensive choice of learning options.

If you are employed, as an apprentice you will earn a wage working alongside experienced staff and gaining valuable qualifications and skills.  You will receive on the job training with a Trainer Assessor and off the job training with our experienced tutors. Our specialist Trainer Assessors support, guide and assess you to ensure your success on the programme.  Anyone living in England, over 16 years-old, not in full-time education and is employed in your specific trade or occupation can apply.

Apprenticeships can take between one and four years to complete depending on the level and type of Apprenticeship and the related industry sector. The minimum salary is £2.60 per hour; however, many apprentices earn significantly more.

Benefits for Employers

Apprenticeships can help businesses across all sectors by offering a route to harness fresh new talent. Most UK businesses consider skills shortages and recruitment difficulties a bigger threat to performance than soaring oil prices and declining consumer spending, and more than a quarter of these rate this form of vocational training higher than any other qualification.

Apprentices deliver real returns to your bottom line, helping businesses to improve productivity and to be more competitive. Training apprentices can also be more cost effective than hiring skilled staff, leading to lower overall training and recruitment costs.

Apprenticeships deliver skills designed around your business needs providing the skilled workers you need for the future. They also help you develop the specialist skills you need to keep pace with the latest technology and working practices in your sector.
