Before you enter a course, you will need to attend an interview. This is done for a number of reasons. Above all, we want to be sure that you choose the course (or mix of courses) best suited to your skills, abilities and future plans.
For many courses you will need to have a minimum level of skills and knowledge, which is why specific qualifications may be required. In addition, the national examination and validation bodies that award course qualifications usually set down guidelines for entry to the courses they will approve.
If you are 19+, in some cases tutors may be prepared to consider your experience of working life in lieu of formal qualifications, as long as they are confident that you are capable of completing the course and will benefit from it. Our experience has been that students who have a responsible attitude, and are strongly motivated, are those most likely to succeed.
At interview, you are likely to be asked about qualifications and experience. Tutors will be interested in your longer-term plans and in why you want to study. They will be able to give practical advice about course options, course combinations, study routes and other things you need to know about
Verbal offers of places are made at interview, and are usually confirmed by letter within 14 days.
In accepting your application, we also take into consideration your willingness to take responsibility for your learning, and for meeting the terms of the Student Charter.
