Train to Gain

You can develop your staff through Train to Gain. This is a government programme for employees over 25 years of age, which provides the opportunity to gain qualifications whilst working.

Benefits to Business:

  • Provides free NVQ Level 2 training for employees without a first full Level 2 qualification and in some cases even if the employee already has a Level 2 or higher
  • Provides basic skills qualifications for those employees who are not at Level 1 in numeracy and literacy
  • NVQs delivered flexibly through on the job training
  • Staff being qualified to Level 2 helps to improve business performance through improved quality of work, higher productivity, reduced costs, increased employee satisfaction, higher staff retention which will lead to increased performance and competitiveness
  • NVQs give employers the opportunity to benchmark their employees’ performance against industry standards, ensuring that employees have the skills and knowledge required to meet their needs
  • Funding is available to employers with less than 50 employees - this will repay wage costs to cover the cost of the time spent in training

Aylesbury College offers Train to Gain funded NVQs to Employers in the areas listed below. For an employee to be eligible for Train to Gain funding they must be 19+ years old, have lived in the EU for the past three years and not hold a first Level 2 or equivalent qualification nad in some cases even if the employee already had a Level 2 qualification or higher.

  • Business Administration
  • Distribution, Warehousing and Storage Operations
  • Amenity Horticulture
  • Hospitality - Front Office, Food and Drink Service, Food Processing and Cooking, Multi Skill and Housekeeping
  • Skills for Life - Numeracy and Literacy
