
NVQ City and Guilds 2330 Technical Certificate and 2356
Course Content:
In the first year of this course Learners will study Basic practical electrical installation skills, electrical science and technology and make initial starts/preparations for their NVQ 3 portfolio. They will complete their Key Skills qualifications for application of number at level 2, Communications at level 2 and Information Technology at level 1 (unless exempt). In their second year the learners will further advance their practical electrical installation skills, electrical science and technology knowledge and NVQ portfolio. In their 3rd and final year, learners will study advanced electrical science principles and technology, complete their NVQ portfolios and gain their AM-2 qualification.
Entry Requirements:
On entry/acceptance to the course, learners will require GCSE Maths and English at grade C or above.

Time Commitment:
Part-time day release, three years duration. 1 day per week (9.00 am to 5.00 pm) college attendance with learners expected to complete an additional minimum of three hours regular revision/work in their own time.
Assessment:
By Formative and Summative Assessment. Formative assessment takes place at natural points throughout the duration of the course based on syllabus requirements. Summative Assessment takes place based on the completion of syllabus requirements.
Progression:
On successful completion of the 3 year course and a minimum of 3 years practical post qualification experience, learners may progress to City and Guilds 2391 Level 3 qualification, Test Inspection andf Certification.
Careers:
Learners may expect to gain a career in the electrotechnical industry with possible career paths as managers or directors/owners of electrical installation businesses.
Additional Information:
Learners must obtain the prescribed/recommended text books used to support the course. These include copies of the IEE Wiring Regulations and On Site Guide, Basic and Advanced Electrical Installation work (Linsley) and Electrical Installation 6th Edit (Scaddan). In addition, learners must provide themselves with suitable footwear (steel toe capped boots) and overalls.
