Following on from the recent Mark Webber Youth Challenge, ‘Inspire’ held a Hairdressing competition for College’s spanning the south east on Monday 12th June.
Aylesbury College participated in the competition along with Amersham and Wycombe, Reading, City of Oxford and East Berkshire Colleges. There were four categories, Women’s Intermediate, Women’s Advanced, Men’s Intermediate and Avant Garde.
The special guest and judge for the evening was award-winning hairdresser to the stars, Errol Douglas MBE, whose work is regularly featured in magazines such as Vogue, Harpers & Queen, and Tatler. Errol selected the finalists from anonymous photographic entries, with Aylesbury College securing 13 of the 24 finalist places. The College students placed 1st and 2nd in 2 categories, and also won the overall winner of the evening. The overall winner was Barbering apprentice Arichman Perez, whose prize is to spend a day with Errol, which could be in his salon in Belgravia, at a photoshoot or even abroad!
Arichman was thrilled to have won his category and the overall competition, having successfully completed his apprenticeship in just 10 months!
Congratulations to all who entered the competition, we’re already looking forward to next year!
