Aylesbury College staff members took part in the Mix96 Tour de Vale on Sunday 11th June.
Wearing Aylesbury College t-shirts, Julie Wallace, Learning Support Assistant, her husband Mark and Richie Carter, Catering and Hospitality Lecturer, cycled for over 3 ½ hours to complete the 60 kilometre course, raising over £100 for the WheelPower charity.
Richie said “I did the 30km ride last year and wanted to push myself to do more this year. Although I did not train for this, apart from ride to work every day, I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It was a social ride around Aylesbury, with nice views of Buckinghamshire. It was challenging in places; Waddesdon Hill and the road up to Mentmore were particularly gruelling!
It was a glorious day, and although I am in a bit of pain today, and remembering how 3 ½ hours felt in the saddle, I would do it again. However, I will need to get my bike fixed first, with 20km to go the bearing burst and I had to nurse it home – it’s in need of some TLC!”
Congratulations to all who took part and thank you to all who donated.
